Is the Mothman Homeless? (The Curse of Chief Cornstalk)

[ OPTIK’S NOTE ]

Another post by our friend over at spooksfield.com! Enjoy.

The Mothman may be homeless. This celebrity monster was not a victim of the
sub-prime housing market, but possibly of a much older concern. The Curse of Chief
Cornstalk. On May 17th, 2010 around 1:13 am an explosion rocked the “TNT area” once
thought to be the home of the creature. Witness Adam Frazier described the event
saying “it was so bright it turned night to day” and that he “didn’t hear an
explosion, but I saw the light.” The official story is that some of the munitions
stored in the grass covered igloos ignited causing the explosion. No cause has yet
been determined.

100 Percent chance for life on newly found Planet?

The Gliese 581 system's orbit compared to our own solar system. The planet labeled G is the one scientists believe could very likely support life.

Gliese 581g may be the new Earth.

A team of astronomers from the University of California and the Carnegie Institute of Washington say they’ve found a planet like ours, 20 light years (120 trillion miles) from Earth, where the basic conditions for life are good.

“The chances for life on this planet are 100 percent,” Steven Vogt, a UC professor of astronomy and astrophysics says. “I have almost no doubt about it.”

The planet is three times the size of Earth, but the gravity is similar.

Dr. Elizabeth Cunningham, planetarium astronomer at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, says the discovery is a huge deal.

Found: An Earthlike Planet at Last

The star known as Gliese 581 is utterly unremarkable in just about every way you can imagine. It’s a red dwarf, the most common type of star in the Milky Way, weighing in at about a third the mass of the Sun. At 20 light years or so away, it’s relatively nearby, but not close enough to set any records (it’s the 117th closest star to Earth, for what that’s worth). You can’t even see it without a telescope, so while it lies in direction of Libra, it isn’t one of the shining dots you’d connect to form the constellation. It’s no wonder that the star’s name lacks even a whiff of mystery or romance.

Aurora, Texas UFO Incident

The Aurora UFO Incident is a UFO incident that reportedly occurred on April 17, 1897 in Aurora, Texas, a small town in the northwest corner of the DFW Metroplex. The incident (similar to the more famous Roswell UFO Incident 50 years later) reportedly resulted in a fatality from the crash. The alleged alien body is reportedly buried in an unmarked grave at the local cemetery.

A Texas Historical Commission marker outside the Aurora Cemetery, alleged burial site of the UFO pilot, which briefly mentions the incident.

During the 1896-1897 timeframe (some six or seven years before the Wright Brothers’ first flight), numerous sightings of a cigar-shaped flying machine were reported across the United States.
