Lavender Town Syndrome

The Lavender Town Syndrome (also known as “Lavender Town Tone” or “Lavender Town Suicides”) was a peak in suicides and illness of children between the ages of 7-12 shortly after the release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan, back in February 27, 1996.

Rumors say that these suicides and illness only occurred after the children playing the game reached Lavender Town, whose theme music had extremely high frequencies, that studies showed that only children and young teens can hear, since their ears are more sensible.

Cartoon Symbolism Theories

Batman

One theory I’ve heard pertaining to Batman called the “Batman in Silent Hill” Theory. It states that none of Batman’s rogues actually exist, and each one is a representation of a part of his fractured mind that he must (repeatedly) do battle with and conquer.

The Joker represents encroaching insanity. The subconscious revulsion to reason and logic that Batman has as a result of the random, senseless and undeserved death of his parents.

Two-Face represents his dichotomy between Bruce Wayne the business man and Batman the dark avenger. Poison Ivy represents his sexuality.

The Canals of Xochimilico hold a mystical charm that seems almost unsettling. Over hundreds of years the area has been desecrated to only one canal. This sole tributary is all that is left of the ancient Lake Xochimilico.  Still, the strength of the Aztecs thrives in this remnant, this living alter of mexico’s history.
